Third Spaces to connect, relax, and have fun
In 2021, a group of BYP100 members came together to create an organization that we now call Chicago Quilombo. It is an organizing home, and a home in the literal sense. We are Black young adults creating spaces for us—
Izwe-Lethu!
OUR MISSION
Safety defined as for us by us without police
third spaces that affirm us...
IZWE-LETHU: COLLECTIVE OWNERSHIP
Our values dictate that we abide by cooperative-values and are guided by principles established by the community we both serve and are part of.
“Izwe-Lethu” means “Our Land” in Nguni/South African languages.
UJAAMA PROGRAMMING
We are looking for businesses & organizations that want to operate within our space, and hold events that benefit Black & Brown folks in Chicago.
FINANKRA HOUSING
Black women, femmes and gender-non conforming folks are under attack. We are using our resources to defend and protect them.
